The Block-Kids Building Program is a national building competition that is sponsored by your state NAWIC Chapter and a local host. The program introduces children to the construction industry in an effort to create an awareness of the construction industry and promote an interest in future careers on one of the many facets of the industry.
This year's prgoram was held February 11,2006. The competition was to build a construction related project using lego's. Each participant was given the same number of Lego's and could choose three other materials to use.
Congratulations to John Moody who built a replica of the lift bridge that is located in Portsmouth, NH. He used two strings to lift the center. John was the Chapter winner and his project was then sent to the Regional judging. We have been notified that John's project not only came in first place in the Region, but also was first Nationally. John's project will received a NOVA award in April funded by the Fortune 500 companies in Dearborn, MI. Good job, John!
Information on the 2007 Block Kids program will be announced soon. Please check back for more information.
